The battery-powered speaker features a class-D amplifier with a 10-inch woofer and a 1-inch HF driver. The amp delivers 360 watts of power when it's plugged into a power socket and 240 watts when it's using the battery. Despite the considerable size of the cabinet, the battery is able to supply power for up to 12 hours - an entire day or night.

For music applications in particular, you need a full-range speaker. The Envoi certainly delivers, with a frequency range of up to 20 kHz. Use the built-in media player and you can play back MP3/WMA files via a USB/SD interface. You can connect an instrument or microphone and adjust the bass/treble, or even add some reverb - particularly useful when you're singing along to a backing track.
